Preheat oven to 350℉. Gather your ingredients so that you have everything close at hand on the counter or table.
Prepare the Ingredients
Using a nut chopper, chop 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Place 2/3 cup butter in a glass measuring cup and heat in microwave until butter has melted.
Make the Batter
In a small bowl, mix together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and 2 cups brown sugar. Stir in 2 large eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, mixing until all ingredients are incorporated.
Gradually stir in flour mixture, just until combined. The batter will be thick.
Spread batter into an oblong cake pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Sprinkle batter with 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
Bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until cookies are set in the center. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Makes 20.
