Toffee Coated Pretzel Sticks are great snacks for kids--both young and old. Perfect for tea parties or the holidays. White Chocolate sprinkled with toffee. Yum! Click to Tweet

Years ago, I helped my friend, Mary Allen make these fun Toffee Coated Pretzel Sticks. We ate them with hot cups of tea, and they were so delicious.

When I returned home from my visit, I soon shared them with our family. Our daughters enjoyed them immensely. These little toffee coated gems are perfect for the holidays or a tea party–or a holiday tea party!

They are quite easy to make, although like any candy that deals with melted chocolate or almond bark, they can be messy to make.

Four Ingredients for Toffee Coated Pretzel Sticks

  • almond bark or white chocolate
  • English Toffee Bits
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Pretzel Rods

For the white coating, you may use either almond bark or white chocolate. I’ve used both, but at Christmastime, I usually have the almond bark in my pantry and it melts so easy. Of course, premium white chocolate will taste better, but you might want to save that for special cookies or candies!

I used Heath Bits of Brickle, English Toffee Bits but you could also crush Heath candy bars or buy the package of toffee bits with chocolate on them. Use whatever supplies you have on hand.

During the holidays, I buy tubs of pretzel rods or wands at my favorite grocery store — Aldi’s. But you can find these tubs at Walmart or your grocery store, too. This recipe may make more than 20 pretzel sticks, but that’s a pretty close number. Plus, by the time you’ve finished 20 sticks, you’ll probably be ready to call it quits. Especially, if you’re working with young children, who tend to get very messy and who probably eat more of the topping and candy than what lands on the rods!

Directions for Coating the Pretzel Rods

In medium-sized microwave-safe bowl, heat almond bark on high 3-4 minutes until melted, stirring after every 60 seconds. Depending on the condition of your microwave, this may take more or less time. Just check it often and when the topping is smooth and creamy, it’s ready. Try not to overcook the topping.

Meanwhile in small bowl, mix together the toffee bits and chocolate chips.

Prepare your work area by placing waxed paper on the table or counter and everything else nearby. Dip the pretzel rods into the melted almond bark. We liked to cover them 1/2 – 2/3 so that some pretzel still shows.

Then immediately sprinkle the rods with the toffee mixture. This is where things start to get messy. The chunks don’t always want to stick to the topping, so do this part over the waxed paper or a plate to catch the drippings, which you can use again. Once you have the rod decorated, place it on the waxed paper to set. Repeat until all of the rods have been decorated.

Allow to set on waxed paper until no longer sticky. Store in an air-tight container.

Toffee Coated Pretzel Sicks are really quite delicious. I hope you will enjoy them as much as we do!
