At the end of a year, I like to look back and take “inventory” of my recipes and how they were viewed. In regard to the Most Popular Recipes of 2022, you might guess that a lot of the recipes are “Comfort Foods.” And you would be correct.
But there are a few odd ducks in here that might surprise you. Scroll further down to see how the following fifteen recipes rank for the year, beginning with the most viewed recipe.
#1 – My most popular recipe this last year was Angel Food Cake with Frosting. Last year this recipe ranked #10, so I was glad to see that it had climbed all the way to the top. I’m thrilled to know so many people are looking at homemade versions of this recipe! When you want a really delicious Angel Food Cake, try this. The cake is light and airy with a hint of vanilla and citrus, and the 7-Minute Frosting is so marshmallowy good!
#2 – The second most popular recipe is Chicken Teriyaki on a Stick. Having ranked #1 last year, this was not a surprise. It’s a delicious recipe to make on the grill or in an oven broiler. Marinated chicken tenders, tender, saucy, and so yummy! Check it out and see what you think!
#3 – In the number three spot is Thick Venison Chili, which uses ground venison burger. A lot of my venison recipes have ranked in the top 50 recipes. For the first 15 years of our marriage, our family practically lived on venison that my husband hunted, both deer and elk. After much trial and error, I learned the best recipes for using the roasts, steaks, and burger. This is one of them!
#4 – Okay, so this recipe surprised me. Orange Carrot Gelatin Salad is a dish my family has been making ever since I was a little girl. Apparently, it is quite popular for Jello salads. It’s a very versatile recipe that is great all year long, whether for a holiday dinner, a picnic, or a summer barbecue.
#5 – In the number five position is my recipe for Chocolate Fudge Truffle Cheesecake. Folks, this recipe deserves its spot, as it’s a chocolate-lover’s dream. Truly, it’s an amazing recipe that turns out every time I’ve made it. I love enjoying it on my birthday or for Valentine’s Day!
#6 – Pork Schnitzel with Cream Sauce is always a popular recipe, especially for anyone looking for comfort food or a German dish. This is an easy weeknight dinner to make for your family and pairs well with mashed potatoes or German Spaetzle with Cabbage!
#7 – I noticed during the holidays that Mom’s Pecan Brittle was getting quite a lot of traffic. And rightly so. It’s delicious! If you enjoy making or eating brittle candy, give this uncomplicated recipe a try!
#8 – Ham and Hash Brown Egg Casserole makes my most popular list this year. It’s easy to prepare and you can even make it in advance the night before, then bake it the next morning. Again, it’s a delicious recipe that we enjoy year-round, especially when family visits.
#9 – Sourdough Bread Bowls comes in once again in the top 10 recipes. Ranked #4 last year, it slid down just a bit, but it’s still quite wonderful. This recipe will make eight soup bowls that you may use with your favorite soup or freeze for later. I love it with my Baked Potato Soup Recipe.
#10 – Coming in at the number ten spot is Potluck Enchilada Casserole. This one has been popular for a few years now, and oddly enough, it’s one of my least favorite photos! In fact, I ought to update it, but I hate to mess with any Google ranking! No matter all that, it’s still a favorite with my viewers. It’s easy to make and will serve a crowd.
#11 – Tangy Sourdough Bread retains it’s place in my top twelve recipes for the year. Not a big surprise, as my sourdough recipes tend to rank pretty high. I’m pleased to see it here, as it’s a recipe I make every week! It makes two loaves, so I’ll either freeze one for later in the week, take it to our potluck at church, or give a loaf to family or friends.
#12 – In twelfth place is my recipe for Roast Beef and Noodles. Ranking #7 last year, I’m happy to see that it’s still being viewed by many. It’s so good, and true comfort food.
#13 – German Cabbage with Bacon makes the list this year, having gotten a lot of traction by viewers this past summer and fall. It’s popular as an easy weeknight dinner, but also is another great German recipe, perfect for Oktoberfest.
#14 – Sunday Meatloaf is a delicious recipe to enjoy anytime, not just on Sundays. It’s an old-fashioned recipe that I’ve been making all through my marriage of 33 years. Serve it with your favorite potatoes and green beans. So good.
#15 – Coming in at fifteen is another popular recipe for many years, Simple Hamburger Stroganoff. Again, easy to make and a great weeknight dinner. Comfort food.
As you can see, out of these top fifteen recipes, over nine of them fit into my Comfort Food Category. Five of these recipes are perfect Weeknight Dinners. Three are Desserts and two are Sourdough Recipes. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, and that it has given you ideas for recipes to make for your family.
