Instructions for Making This Recipe
Gather all your ingredients so that you have everything close at hand on the counter or table. Here are two options for heating the chocolate.
It’s typically better to heat your fondues on the stove or in the microwave rather than in a fondue pot, which has a low and unstable heat source. Melt your fondue and then transfer it to the fondue pot for serving.
Option 1 – In a medium glass bowl, combine the chocolate chips, half and half cream, and peanut butter. Place in a microwave and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring every 90 seconds or so until chocolate has melted.
Option 2 – Using a double boiler, pour 2 cups of water in the saucepan and bring to a low boil. Combine the chocolate chips, half and half cream, and peanut butter in the bowl of a double boiler. Set on top of the gently boiling water. Stir the ingredients to combine as they warm and melt.
When the chocolate has melted, stir in the vanilla extract and kosher salt.
Transfer the chocolate mixture to a fondue dish or pot to serve.
While some fondue pots may be multi-functional, in general the three types of fondue pots and their uses are: Stainless for boiling broth or oil for meats; Enamel for cheese; and Ceramic for chocolate. These can be electric, or use a canned heating source. You might also use a mini crockpot to keep cheese or chocolate warm.
Serve with the following: Marshmallows, Pretzel Sticks, Graham Crackers, Animal Cookies, Shortbread, Pound Cake, Angel Food Cake, Sliced Bananas, Sliced Apples, Pineapple Chunks, and Strawberries.
Wine Pairing Suggestion: Your favorite Riesling or Moscato.

This Frozen Peanut Butter Pie is a fun recipe when you want a cool dessert. Perfect for summertime!
When I was a girl, I remember my mom brought home a frozen pie from the grocery store. And we thought Heaven had come down to Earth! I think it might have been a Key Lime Pie or a Lemon Pie (with those pretty piped rings of whipped topping along the outer edge.) They were wonderful. Sweet, and creamy, and ice cold.
Wanting to see if I could recreate a similar dessert, I tried my hand at frozen pies one summer. This recipe topped high on our scoring card. We love chocolate, so the chocolate crust was a winner. We love peanut butter. Again a win. And while the chocolate and peanut butter topping tasted wonderful, I didn’t care for how it cracked after being frozen. So, maybe I’ll need to come up with a peanut butter whipped topping to pipe along the edges. I’ll be sure to post here if I do.
Until then, just be sure to take this Frozen Peanut Butter Pie from the freezer about ten minutes before you serve it. Otherwise, it’s really hard to slice.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In small bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, baking cocoa, and melted butter. Mix well. Form into pie pan to make crust. Bake for 10 minutes. Allow to cool.
In large mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Add peanut butter, mixing well. Gently fold in whipped topping until thoroughly combined. Spoon into cooled graham cracker crust.
Garnish with melted chocolate and peanut butter chips. Freeze for 4-6 hours until frozen. All Set out 10 minutes before serving for easier slicing. Serves 8-10.
Notes
*Unless otherwise noted, all recipes on this blog use salted butter.
