Ingredients to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Fondue
- semi-sweet chocolate chips
- half and half cream
- creamy peanut butter
- vanilla extract
- kosher salt
Instructions for Making This Recipe
Gather all your ingredients so that you have everything close at hand on the counter or table. Here are two options for heating the chocolate.
It’s typically better to heat your fondues on the stove or in the microwave rather than in a fondue pot, which has a low and unstable heat source. Melt your fondue and then transfer it to the fondue pot for serving.
Option 1 – In a medium glass bowl, combine the chocolate chips, half and half cream, and peanut butter. Place in a microwave and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring every 90 seconds or so until chocolate has melted.
Option 2 – Using a double boiler, pour 2 cups of water in the saucepan and bring to a low boil. Combine the chocolate chips, half and half cream, and peanut butter in the bowl of a double boiler. Set on top of the gently boiling water. Stir the ingredients to combine as they warm and melt.
When the chocolate has melted, stir in the vanilla extract and kosher salt.
Transfer the chocolate mixture to a fondue dish or pot to serve.
While some fondue pots may be multi-functional, in general the three types of fondue pots and their uses are: Stainless for boiling broth or oil for meats; Enamel for cheese; and Ceramic for chocolate. These can be electric, or use a canned heating source. You might also use a mini crockpot to keep cheese or chocolate warm.
Serve with the following: Marshmallows, Pretzel Sticks, Graham Crackers, Animal Cookies, Shortbread, Pound Cake, Angel Food Cake, Sliced Bananas, Sliced Apples, Pineapple Chunks, and Strawberries.
Wine Pairing Suggestion: Your favorite Riesling or Moscato.
