We love Cheesy Garlic Biscuits. This recipe is similar to the biscuits served at Red Lobster.
My husband and I eat at Red Lobster about once a year. For our anniversary. You have to understand that we rarely eat out. So, this is always a lovely treat for me. Our anniversary is in February. Valentine’s Day, to be exact. Which means, it’s during Lobster Fest. Such joy!
(Recipe modified with new photos on 1/21/22.)
My husband will usually order the Admiral’s Feast, and I will go for the Lobster Lover’s Dream. Yum! Always we enjoy the biscuits served with our dinners. When the girls were still at home, we would often take extra biscuits home with us in a doggy bag. They loved them, too.
But you can make your own Red Lobster Biscuits at home. And you needn’t bother with biscuit kits at the grocery store when you can make your own with such little effort.
These drop biscuits are easy to make and simply delicious to eat.
Ingredients to Make Cheesy Garlic Biscuits
- all-purpose flour
- baking powder
- salt
- onion powder
- garlic powder
- dried parsley
- vegetable shortening
- whole milk
- cheddar cheese
Garlic Butter
- butter, melted
- dried parsley
- garlic powder
- garlic salt
Instructions for Making This Recipe
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Gather your ingredients so that you have everything close at hand on the counter or table.
Prepare your ingredients. Using a box grater, finely shred the cheddar cheese.
I always recommend buying chunk cheese rather than pre-shredded. Not only is it less expensive (usually) but it just melts better. Plus it’s not loaded with extra additives.
In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and dried parsley.
Using a pastry fork or blender, cut in the vegetable shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add whole mix milk and finely shredded cheese. Stir with fork until blended. Dough will be sticky.
I highly recommend using a blending fork. I find using one very easy AND easier to clean than a pastry blender.
Drop from spoon onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden brown. Transfer the biscuits to a cooling rack.
Prepare the Garlic Butter for Topping
In a small bowl, combine melted butter, dried parsley, garlic powder and garlic salt.
Using a pastry brush, slather tops of biscuits with melted garlic butter.
You could also just dip the tops of the biscuits in the bowl of garlic butter. This works, too!
Serve warm. We rarely have leftovers, but if you do, they are still good the next day. Makes 12 biscuits.
Serve Cheesy Garlic Biscuits with Lemon Garlic Shrimp Scampi or Cajun Shrimp.
