Kathy’s Apple Pandowdy

This is one of my favorite and easiest dessert recipes. Serve it warm with whipped cream or ice cream. It’s also delicious served cold for breakfast. I also make it with fresh blueberries and canned tart cherries or peaches.

Recipe for Kathy Harris' Apple Pandowdy

Ingredients Needed to Make Apple Pandowdy

  • apple pie filling (2 cans)
  • gluten free flour
  • granulated sugar
  • baking powder
  • salt
  • large egg
  • whole milk
  • butter
  • additional sugar and nutmeg

Instructions for this Recipe

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spread pie filing evenly in bottom of 12” x 12” baking dish. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add egg, milk, and melted butter. Mix until well-combined.

Spoon batter over fruit. Sprinkle with sugar and nutmeg. Bake until the crust is golden brown, about 35-40 minutes.

Serve warm or cold, plain or topped with fresh cream, whipped cream, or ice cream.

  • 1 1/4 cups unsifted gluten free flour use regular flour, if preferred
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 whole large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • Additional sugar and nutmeg
