This recipe for Slow-Cooked Little Smokies goes beyond the norm by giving your favorite little smokies even more spice and flavor. They are so delicious and easy to make, you’ll want to add this to your holiday recipe stash.

Slow-Cooked Little Smokies in a Small Serving Dish

I’m sure you’ve eaten or made Lit’l Smokies that have been slathered with a favorite barbecue sauce. It’s a quick way to prepare an appetizer and is relatively good. However, I’m here to tell you that this recipe tastes so much better, and is still quite easy to make. Plus, I love being able to mix it all up and put it in a 1.5 quart slow cooker to cook–and serve! If you happen to be serving a really big party, you may, of course, use a larger slow cooker, and simply adjust the ingredient amounts to fit your needs.

Of course, if you’d prefer to place the Little Smokies in a serving bowl, feel free to do so. This especially comes in handy when serving leftovers.

Instructions for Making this Recipe

Ingredients for this Recipe

Gather the ingredients so that you have everything close at hand on the counter or table.

Place 28 ounces of Lit’l Smokies into a small to medium-sized slow cooker.

This recipe makes enough sauce to cover up to 36 ounces of Lit’l Smokies. If you need more than this, you may opt to double the entire recipe. To do so, simply adjust the ingredient amounts and use a larger slow cooker.

Prepare the Barbecue Sauce

Mix Sauce Ingredients Together

In a medium bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, low-sodium soy sauce, minced garlic, horseradish mustard, and Louisiana hot sauce. Mix well to combine.

Pour Sauce over Smokies

Pour sauce over the smokies and stir to combine. If you haven’t already done so, place in slow cooker.

Place Slow Cooker Dish on Serving Table to Serve

Cook on high for 2.5 hours or on low for 4 hours.

Serving Little Smokies on an Appetizer Table

To serve, simply place the slow cooker dish on the serving table, which will ensure the dish will stay warm. If you will be serving for a long period of time (more than an hour) you may plug in the slow cooker and place the setting to warm to keep the Little Smokies warm.

This recipe will serve 8-10 people.
