Slow-Cooked Country Style Ribs is a delicious recipe when you need something easy for dinner. Just put them in the slow-cooker and enjoy delicious, tender, fall-apart ribs for dinner. Easy peasy, and oh so yummy!

Country Style Ribs are Fall Apart Tender When Cooked in Slow Cooker

Country Style Pork Ribs are great for grilling, but they also work well for this recipe. When shopping, look for boneless ribs, and the meatiest ribs available. If they have a lot of fat on them, you can trim some of it off–but not all! You want some fat remaining so that the ribs will cook up nice and juicy and full of flavor.

I love ribs, whether slow-cooked, smoked, or baked in oven and finished on the grill. When it comes to barbecue sauce, my go-to brand is Sweet Baby Rays. This recipe uses this barbecue sauce along with ketchup and other ingredients to make a delicious homemade sauce.

Ingredients for Slow-Cooked Country Style Ribs

  • Country Style Pork Ribs (with bone or boneless)
  • olive oil
  • ketchup
  • barbecue sauce (we like Sweet Baby Rays)
  • brown sugar
  • red wine vinegar
  • garlic
  • dried minced onion
  • yellow mustard
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • dried oregano
  • parsley
  • kosher salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

Gather your ingredients so that you have everything close at hand on the counter or table. You’ll need a 6 or 7 quart slow cooker for this recipe.

Mince the garlic using a knife and cutting board.

 

Sear the Ribs

Sear the Ribs in a Skillet to Brown

Begin by heating a large skillet on medium high heat with olive oil. Sear the ribs on all sides to get a nice golden brown crust.

While searing the ribs on a hot skillet in oil is not absolutely necessary, it certainly gives the ribs a nice start on the cook, as well as searing in all those wonderful juices. I also like that it gives the ribs a nice brown coat when you serve. 

Place the seared ribs in a large slow cooker.

 

Prepare the Barbecue Sauce

Prepare the Homemade Barbecue Sauce

In a medium bowl, prepare the barbecue sauce. Mix together the ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, wine vinegar, minced garlic, dry minced onion, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano and parsley.

Pour Sauce over the Ribs in Layers

Pour the sauce over the ribs in layers. Do this for best coverage of the sauce. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Layer the Sauce over the Ribs and Cook on Low for 6-8 Hours

Place the lid on the slow cooker, and cook on low for 6-8 hours until the meat is tender and falls apart when picked up.

If you don’t have 6-8 hours for cooking, you may speed the process by cooking on high for 2 hours, and then finishing off on slow for another 2-3 hours. However, a long slow cook will give you the best results.

Transfer cooked ribs to a pretty platter for serving.

Reheat Ribs in a Oval Baker in Oven

If you’d prefer to make this dish ahead, you may do so 2-3 days ahead, storing meat in the refrigerator. To reheat, place ribs and sauce in a oval baker and cook at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes until ribs are hot and sauce is bubbly.

Serve Country Style Ribs with Cheesy Corn and Macaroni Casserole

I like to pair Slow-Cooked Country Style Ribs with a Spinach Salad, Yummy Baked Beans or a cheesy side dish such as Microwave Scalloped Potatoes or Cheesy Corn and Macaroni Casserole.
