Any child, young or old, will enjoy this recipe for M&M Chocolate Chip Cookies. They are pretty and bright enough for a Christmas Cookie Tray, but you can make them at any time of year!

M&M Chocolate Candies

When shopping for M&M candies, you may consider buying the holiday candies that are just red and green. Or mix it up with all colors for an even more festive look!

These cookies are especially fun to make with your kids or grandchildren. In fact, make some this weekend and fill your cookie jar!

Ingredients Needed to Make M&M Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • vegetable shortening
  • butter at room temperature
  • granulated sugar
  • brown sugar
  • large eggs
  • vanilla extract
  • all-purpose flour
  • baking soda
  • salt
  • chopped pecans
  • bittersweet chocolate chips
  • plain M&M candies

Instructions for Making This Recipe

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Gather all your tools and ingredients so that you have everything close at hand on the counter or table. Using a nut chopper, coarsely chop pecans.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the vegetable shortening, butter, and sugars. Add eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture and beat well.

Fold in chopped pecans, bittersweet chocolate chips, and plain M&M’s until incorporated.

I like to use bittersweet chocolate chips for a Chocolate Chip Cookie. But they can sometimes be hard to find. If that’s the case, feel free to use semi-sweet chocolate chips. I LOVE baking with Ghirardelli chocolate chips. I like their large, flattened size AND the taste they impart to the finished product. Try them and see if you become a fan of them as well!

M&M Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Drop by tablespoonfuls or a cookie scoop onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Bake in preheated oven for 10-14 minutes until golden brown.

This recipe will make 3-4 dozen cookies, depending on how large you make them!
