I use this recipe for Homemade Chili Sauce when I don’t have any of this condiment in my pantry. It’s very easy to make and most people will have these ingredients on hand.
Do-It-Yourself Food Projects can give a person such a sense of accomplishment. They are almost always less expensive to make than a Store Bought Version and are usually quite easy to prepare.
Ingredients for Homemade Chili Sauce
(See the full recipe at the bottom of this post.)
- crushed tomatoes
- brown sugar
- apple cider vinegar
- chili powder
- ground allspice
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- paprika
- seasoned salt
Instructions for Making this Recipe
In a small bowl, combine crushed tomatoes, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, allspice, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and seasoned salt.
You could also use tomato sauce in place of the crushed tomatoes. I like the thickness that the crushed tomatoes offer, plus, I rarely stock tomato sauce in my pantry.
Whisk together to combine.
Using a funnel, pour into a jar and cover with a lid. Refrigerate until ready to use.
This recipe will make approximately 15 oz and should keep in your refrigerator for 10-14 days.
Use this DIY sauce in any recipe that calls for this condiment, such as German Style Meatballs, Chili Shrimp Dip, or Grilled Chicken with Chili Sauce.
