Here is an easy and tasty recipe for serving Grilled Pork Loin Chops. Thick slices of pork seasoned with a tangy spice rub that is so delicious you’ll want to always have some on hand.

There are several ways to handle this recipe, depending on how many people you are serving.

Center Cut Pork Loin - Fresh Direct

(Post modified with new photos on 6/28/22.)

If you’re planning to serve a lot of people, I highly suggest buying a whole pork loin and slicing your own chops. This is the best way to ensure thick, juicy slices of meat at a discounted price. When you do this, you can gauge how thick to slice the meat. I suggest 3/4 – 1 inch thick.

When it’s just my husband and I, or even if I’m serving 4-6 people, I will often search the meat section for thick slices of pork loin chops that are on sale. A few times, I have found 1-inch pieces, which are fabulous. Or have the butcher custom slice you some, if that is an option.

You can even buy Butterflied Chops, which work well, too, and often come in thicker slices.

Two Ingredients for Grilled Pork Loin Chops

Instructions for Making This Recipe

Special thanks to the ladies at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hepler, Kansas for letting me in on the two secrets to this delicious entree.

Secret #1 -Buy a whole pork loin and cut your own chops. This is the least expensive way to buy your chops and get the thickness you desire. Thicker is always better. Plus, you have the option of either freezing the unused chops or serving a large crowd. Perfect for large family gatherings or barbecues. Slice pieces 3/4″ – 1″ thick.

Slicing your own chops is my favorite way to serve this recipe. Buy a pork loin when it is on sale, then slice it for immediate grilling or wrap and store in freezer for a later time.

Other options are to buy the pork loin chops already cut at your grocery store or have the butcher slice a loin roast for you.

Preparing Pork Loin Chops with Heads Seasoning

Secret #2 – About an hour before grilling time, generously sprinkle the chops on both sides with Head Country Seasoning. I’m not sure you could over-season this stuff–it’s that good.

If you haven’t tried this brand of seasoning, do yourself a favor and go out and buy some. You should be able to find it at Walmart or your local grocery store. It is wonderful!

Grill over hot coals for 4-5 minutes on each side until juices run clear or internal temperature reaches 145 degrees. You may also broil in oven if desired. So simple, and so delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole pork loin roast or thick cut pork loin chops - butterflied chops
  • 4 tablespoons Head Country Seasoning about 1/2 - 1 teaspoon on each side

Two Secret Instructions

  • Secret #1 - Slice your own pork chops from a whole pork loin roast to get thick, juicy slices of meat at a discounted price. Works especially well when serving large groups. Slice pieces 3/4" - 1" thick.
  • Secret #2 - An hour before cooking, generously sprinkle each side of pork loin chops with Head Country seasoning. (If you haven't tried this seasoning, do so now! It is wonderful!)
I'm guessing here, but maybe 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of seasoning per side, depending on how thick and big the slices are.
  • Grill over hot coals for 3-5 minutes on each side until juices run clear or internal temperature reaches 145 degrees. You may also broil in oven if desired. Serves 10-12

Notes

*You may also buy sliced pork loin chops or butterflied chops at the market. Just try to buy the thickest chops that you can find. Shopping for sales is always good, too.
