Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies is one of my favorite cookie recipes. I love the combination of oats, peanut butter and chocolate chips in this one.

Place Baked Cookies on Wire Rack to Cool

I’ve been making these cookies for years now. They are very easy to make and so delicious. And dare I say, good for you?!! I mean, they have peanut butter and oats in them, right!

A Few Notes on Ingredients

As for ingredients, you may use either creamy or chunky peanut butter in these cookies. If you want a little extra crunch in the cookie, opt for chunky.

Mixing the Old-Fashioned Oats into the Flour

I always keep old-fashioned oats in my pantry, so that is what I recommend over instant. Instant oats will not have the same texture that the old-fashioned do.

Free free to use semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips in this recipe.

Instructions for Making This Recipe

Ingredients for this Recipe

Preheat oven to 350°F. Gather your ingredients so that you have everything close at hand on the counter or table.

In large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, peanut butter, and granulated sugar. Add large eggs and vanilla extract. Mix to incorporate.

In a medium bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, old-fashioned oats, baking soda, and salt.

I always like to combine my dry ingredients in a small bowl and mix them there. That way everything has a better chance for distribution. No biting into a mass of salt or baking soda. Ugh.

Mix the Flour and Oats into the Creamed Peanut Butter Mixture

Add to the creamed mixture until combined. Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips.

You may use semi-sweet chocolate chips or bittersweet. I prefer bittersweet, but they are not always easy to find here in the country. And the two are very close to the same.

Drop by Spoonful or Scoop onto Baking Sheet

Drop by large spoonful onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

When forming these cookies, I always say bigger is better. They will take a bit longer to bake but you’ll have a fabulous cookie in the end. If desired, use a cookie scoop to for uniform-sized cookies. Large. Chewy. Delicious.

Transfer Baked Cookies to a Wire Rack to Cool

Remove from oven and transfer cookies onto a wire rack to cool. This recipe will make 3 dozen large cookies. I hope you will enjoy Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies as much as we do! Serve cookies with a large glass of icy milk.
